Helping Hands are designed by local artists and then auctioned offfor Art with Heart at one of our many art festival appearances.
The money raised helps us to support all of the projects going on and helps us with transportation to our creative therapy sessions.
Soon, we will have a gallery coming up full of the hands from
Singing River Art Association!
What do you want on your hands?
This was the question posed with both hands to paint and baited breath to a fresh group of brave new guinea pigs at one of our art groups. The question served to open up thought into what your life, which lay in your hands, would hold. We (cuz I was there, too, subjected to this introspection) grabbed it and ran, the creative sparks flew :) Of course, symbolism of both concrete and abstract natures came about... and this may be one of the best projects we've come up with and even one we can all play around with in and outside ourselves.
Pretty soon we'll have a show.
(Thanks Jimmy and Sally!)
When you see us out and about at art fairs doing face painting, the proceeds go to The Gulf Coast Women's Center for Nonviolence's transportation fund. Their clients need transportation out of their situations to safety, and then to and from the shelter for necessities.
Chairs for chairity uses wooden chairs found in the garbage and the creative talents of groups and individuals like you to refurbish them all artsy-like for the purpose of auctioning off or selling to fund other necessities. We get to learn new art techniques and benefit others at the same time.
Our first "Baby" is named Janis- Janis was created by the fine ladies at the Gulf Coast Women's Center for NonViolence. We used paint, left over materials and elbow grease to revive Janis's strong personality into what she is today. She will be the star of the show in an upcoming auction pretty soon!
