The Green Faerie is a mixed media/oil painting on canvas board. The colors chosen are from Mardi Gras, green, violet and gold. Some images are from The Old Absinthe House in New Orleans and the Absinthe fountain-statue is from one of the oldest absinthe houses in the area, as well. All along the sides, the viewer can see absinthe spoons used to pour cold water over the sugar cubes, a ritual that turns the drink to bright luminescent hues of green. The figure at the lower left is from a Victorian poster about absinthe... but in my painting, she is the one drinking the absinthe and in her mind's eye, she sees herself as large, sophisticated and ethereal as the fountain figure after a few glass of the drink! The piece is about the south's history and the effects of the drink, absinthe. Painting is protected under layers of epoxy resin.

Summertime Spirit is a Mixed Media on Canvas, appx. 18x24. The picture isn't very good because the iridescent colors don't show up very well, but as you move in the room, the colors change- like the dragonfly's flightiness and the weather in summertime.  Image is created from iridescent cellophane, pigment powders, ink, acrylic and guaze. Painting is under several layers of epoxy resin, adding extra durability.

Humidity is a mixed media Acrylic, Ink and Gold Leaf on canvas paper. The  swamps and waterways of our area are gorgeous, sultry and humid, and this piece is a visual of just that painted with the warmer spectrum of color. Image is already framed and under glass. Appx 18x24. It also has an extra surprise when you turn out the lights! I'm not telling what, you can guess :)

Season without Sun is a multimedia painting on canvas paper, framed and under glass. Its created with variegated leaf, silver leaf, ink, watercolor and colored pencil. Its about the cold, dreary dark days and their effect on people during that time period. Just like the people who lose their color for a time, the sunflowers aren't their usual bright, shining selves- but rather an opposite of what they used to be. Nevertheless, the sunflowers- just like the people- are still beautiful. Its accompanied by a poem at the bottom right.

Meditation Garden is a multilayered mixed media painting with a twist: it has a surprise at night. Just think, when we take the time to center ourselves and get back to God's creations, we become "enlightened". That enlightenment carries us through our darkest times, and we SHINE :) It also has layers of epoxy resin for durability.  Appx 18x24
