Art with Heart in Mississippi’s purpose is to serve and connect individuals, communities, and the human service organizations by using creative arts for education, therapy, and recreation, while simultaneously serving the creative artists by mentoring, networking and connecting them to art associations and venues for shows and publicity.
Our services include both free and paid[1]:
· Education
(for individuals) tutoring, new-artist mentoring
(for groups) therapeutic art programs, art classes, art workshops
· Connection to our alliances with
art associations,
residential treatment services
other non-profit organizations (i.e., Women’s Center for Non-Violence) and with
government agencies (i.e., Department of Human Services)
Our goal is to be a positive impact on the development of community through the above with fundraising events for Art with Heart and these agencies, murals for participating counties, volunteer opportunities, job opportunities, children’s programs, and in all forms of residential treatment services.

What can we do for you?
"We". "Ours". "Us". Its just not about ME anymore ;)
Information for creatives, individuals, parents, children, teenagers, therapeutic communities and agencies. (Contributors click here.)
For Artists, Art Educators and Creatives (professional or non), this is more of an art free- for- all not an art association. So its a free FUN artist networking database where your art is put out there for a purpose. Although we're located in Jackson County, we're on the move (often resulting in a ticket or two).
Art with Heart is about using art, whatever that means to you, to help and enlighten others, while creating networks for freedom, support, education, growth and appreciation. We create with paint, glass, clay, and paper, now how about with the world and its elements? We are the the innovators of the world, so brainstorm about what you'd like to see happen in your art, life and community and we'll do it. We need the dreamers to come up with what the practical can do. Come up with something and we can make it happen.
Would you mind teaching a class? Or just giving workshops in places like senior centers? Alternative schools? How would it feel to help heal people with texture sensitivities into modeling clay? Could you give a talk about your unique way of collaging? Could your methods be taught as positive coping skills to those who need it? How about opening all this up to the public who wouldn't ordinarily know about it?
As an open forum for every artist to promote their art and fit their naturally sensitive hearts within the community that appreciates them, your name is already attached to something good- your art, but here we can help elevate it to the public eye and match art seeker to artist, artwork to markets. We pass info along as we get it, including art business knowledge. We'd love your input and sharing as well--- our best education often comes from life and how we share it.
As far as our shows, you have the opportunity to be involved in whatever you choose, no obligations. Wanna start a show? What are you interested in? What would you like to start or be involved in? Give us a line. You are invited to any and all shows or festivities available to Art with Heart, so check out the schedule and drop a line with what you'd be interested in doing and we'll match you up with events and people looking for art like yours.
For Individuals, Art with Heart's classes and therapeutics are open to you. Would you like to start a group or participate in an existing one? Send ideas and we'll get something started. Want to get watercoloring? How about take up oil painting again? Come down and paint with us.
For Parents, Art with Heart is a place where you can trust that your art-interested children will get an education in the aspects of art that suit them, not a status quo curriculum. With a choice between classes or tutoring available, children can explore different media and learn the nuances between styles at their own pace, when they are interested because the art class is suited to them. Parents are encouraged to stay in the class and offer their knowledge and experiment in whatever the children are doing. Your participation is appreciated as we always need extra hands!
Please stay in the classes and teach/learn, too. We aid with supplies, so worry is lifted off parents' shoulders for those who can't afford differing media.
For Children, we encourage creativity, active participation and thinking for yourself by bouncing ideas back and forth between artists, so no plan is ever concrete- it is subject to the individuality of the children. AND your art is welcome to be shown in any one of our children's shows.
Teenagers can take advantage of elder artists' knowledge, help with portfolios, introduction to the business aspect of art and art shows. Mentorship can also be provided.
Therapeutic art and regular classes can be offered for everyone as a one on one basis (or a group can be created). Its intent is to develop emotional expression, positive self regard, assertiveness and social skills. Its a place to express and process difficult experiences, safely, when trust has been established between artist and artist.
For organizations and other agencies, Art with Heart can be a wealth of resources. We offer:
~artists to paint public murals for any occasion
~guest speakers to give therapeutic art talks for seminars
~assistance in getting art supplies for established programs
~help with fundraising art fair events with an artist database
~advice for incorporating therapeutic art in established health programs
~face painting and other fun activities for donations to help support programs
~aid in starting art programs in schools, senior centers, alternative schools, homeschool groups

Art with Heart in Moss Point, MS is a non-profit organization designed by and for local creative professionals to participate with time and talents in their communities to further the connection and interest in the Fine Arts. We’re an open group who values art and service that welcomes everyone’s participation, so anyone can start something and anyone can participate in anything. And we go just about anywhere (Biloxi, Gulfport, Mobile, etc.)
Why? We want to build connections between the community and professional artists and everyone interested in art--- to strengthen the wellbeing, self esteem of all involved. Developing creativity is important.
We offer time and talents to community art projects.
We do free murals for the community in public areas.
We want to build networking connections between artists.
We support and help with shows for new and rising talents.
We help with portfolio presentations and offer support and advice.
We offer free Fine Art Workshops and Classes where they cannot be afforded.
We offer free art supplies when needed for talented and driven young people.
We offer art therapeutically with free assistance and advice for Art Therapy groups.
We support and promote artists of all kinds, especially our youngest ones <wink>.
We will show their work, and yours, too! And without taking a percentage, too <double wink>
We help with community art fairs, charity art auctions, fundraisers in conjunction with or for other non-profit organizations with booths and activities.
We do take donations to keep this afloat :)
AND WE LOVE TO SIT AROUND AND CHAT, PAINT AND SOAK UP THE SUN.
We need artists, participants, parents and students. So, come join us ;) Contact us about anything that tugs your heartstrings.
Everyone is welcome and has something to offer. We are all valuable. Plus, we'd just love to have you around!
